About Harrow Council
Harrow is recognised as the most improved council in London and one of the fastest improving nationally …
Situated in the North West of the capital, ten miles from central London, Harrow is the 12th largest…
This is a crucial role responsible for high profile and high priority services in the borough…
Thank you very much for your interest in these roles.
We are an ambitious outer London borough with a clear focus for the next four years. The Community Directorate is at the heart of delivering this ambition and in developing a new relationship with our residents built on engagement, consultation and listening to their needs and hopes.
Cabinet approved a new management structure at its meeting on 17 June 2015 and as a result we are recruiting to two new posts –Corporate Director, Community and Divisional Director, Environment & Cultural Services.
You will read more about the posts in this information pack but the structure has been created to more efficiently join up our front line services that form the fabric of the communities we serve such as public realm, housing, leisure services and culture. The Corporate Director will lead the transformation of these services, improving outcomes in the borough whilst reducing the reliance on core Council grant and working with our residents to change our relationship with them, encouraging them to become more involved and take greater ownership of their environment.
Whilst relevant experience and skill will be important for these roles critically, I am also looking for effective leaders who can work across traditional boundaries to: develop and exploit commercial opportunities; contribute positively to the Council’s regeneration agenda; promote a step change in how we engage and involve our residents; and work with staff, across the Council, to create a new set of cultural values that will underpin everything that we do.
Harrow is a great place to work with excellent transport links to central London, a progressive approach to flexible working, an Administration that is clear on its priorities, and strong performance and financial management to build on.
If you have the leadership skills to meet the challenges ahead, we would welcome your application. For more information please speak with our recruitment advisers Penny Ransley on 020 7426 3962 or Rabiya Ali on 0113 205 6063. We look forward to hearing from you.
